How long did you factor in going from Poblado and then up the cable car and back? We arrive at our hotel about noon and then start another tour at 1420 at Alpujarra and wanted to see if the 2 hours was enough?

Thanks!

Hey Jen! I’ll keep that in mind, and maybe I’ll write up a South America packing list soon! One recommendation I would make for South America is that the weather varies a lot more than in Central America, so you’ll probably need shorts and t-shirts as well as long sleeves, pants and jackets in the same trip (depending on when you’re traveling there).

I loved this post. I’m traveling to Colombia in two weeks for…hm I haven’t decided yet! And I would love some packing recommendations. In the summer of 2016 I did my dive instructor course in Utila and loved your Central America packing list, so another one for South America would be much appreciated =)

The tour really was a lot of fun! There were a few times that our guide specifically told us to put our cameras away, so I didn’t take any photos in those spots. Overall I really did feel safe, but I know there’s always risks (especially for theft).

Hahah well it sounds like snapping a photo from the cable car probably wasn’t too big of a deal then! The people that I shared the cable car with on the way up were all a bit older and no one had their phones out, so it probably just depends on who you get into the car with.

You took some gorgeous photos from the cablecar. The tour seems to be a lot of fun to do and I’m impressed you managed to take some photos – I would be too scared knowing I could be robbed anytime 🙂

And did basically the exact same things – even down to my experience at Parque Arvi!. I was in the city for 5 days which was really too long, but it is definitely worth a few days of rest when travelling, time to eat really good food, drink in nice bars, do the Real City Tour and explore Medellin. The botanical gardens were great too.

Although I have to admit I did take a picture from the cable car like a gringa 🙂 I wasn’t going to but then I noticed that all the local people around me were on smart phones, one listening to music, another on facebook, etc etc, just like people would be in the US or in England so then I didn’t feel too bad about getting my phone out!
